Teckno Comixs – What Went Wrong

Tekno Comix was founded by Laurie Silvers and Mitchell Rubenstein as part of the public company Big Entertainment. The Tekno Comix brand was discontinued in 1997.

Although books featuring the same characters were published under the Big Entertainment brand in 1997. Tekno Comix tried to cover as much as possible from 1994 to 1997, but the comic competition was too stiff for the next one. company and were dissolved.

Tekno Comix’s publications featured many different characters and comic situations created by famous authors and others in the comic world, but were primarily written and illustrated by Tekno Comix’s for-hire comic creators.

Some of their comics were:

Lost Universe by Gene Roddenberry (later renamed Xander in Lost Universe),

Isaac Asimov’s I-Bots,

Mullkon Empire by John Jakes (six-issue limited series),

Leonard Nimoy’s Primmortals,

Mickey Spillane’s Mike Danger,

Neil Gaiman’s Lady Justice,

Neil Gaiman’s Mr. Hero the Pneumatic Man,

Neil Gaiman’s Phage: Shadow Death (six-issue limited series).

I was one of the lucky ones to attend a comic convention held at Sawgrass Mills Mall.

Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in or around August 1994 and was able to meet most of those listed above, it was a pleasure to meet some of these people and share their thoughts on where the comic book company is headed. Unfortunately, their timing was not conducive to his company doing well, as I recall, comic books were taking a back seat to sports collections at least at Florida State.

The newly formed Florida Marlins were taking center stage locally and I think the nationwide comic book industry was indirectly affecting the sport. In the 1990s it marked the overproduction stage of comics and watered down the versions of many incredible comic titles. Blame it on two major companies. I remember Spider-Man, the overproduction of the Mcfarlane saga, which by the way is why comics are worthless today. All companies and their filth contributed to the demise of Tekno Comix to some extent.

Some of the Tekno Comix was fun to read, I was a fan of Leonard Nimoy’s Primaltals and I have a nice autograph on my blog so you can check it out. If anyone wants an expired Gene Roddenberry Lost Universe calling card, send a note and a self addressed stamped envelope and I will send it, send a note first I only have about 10 left.
